The F in F Prepared stands for…

Well, we’ll let everyone figure that one out.

We just got back from the SCCA National Tour in Farmington, NM. It’s a good thing we were racing all weekend because Farmington is not exciting. At all. We did eat some terrific Mexican food made with roasted New Mexico hatch chiles, but they made the margaritas with wine instead of tequila. Hmmm. You can, however, buy hard liquor at the grocery stores.

The race site was excellent except for an abundance of dust and dirt, but the days were in the 80s so the track and tires got sticky in no time. We both ran toward the end of our run groups which gave us time to watch other cars and mentally prepare. I had one course walk Friday night, after being awake for 36 hours which basically left me stumbling, half-delirious, through the elements. Yarko woke up early Saturday morning to get the car ready. I wound up being late and missed both the morning course walk and the walk between heats 1 and 2. It made the first run nerve-racking although not too slow. We both improved between Saturday and Sunday.

Final results from the weekend:

We both walked away with First Place in our classes and Divisional Championship wins for Rocky Mountain region. So begins the national track record!

Currently we are in the process of pulling the LEDA coilovers to have them rebuilt at Racer’s Edge in Knoxville, TN. Once they come back we will put those in as well as a set of spherical bearings to stiffen up the front end and re-evaluate the spring ratios on the car. We have a Shark Injector on order but they were re-tuning the systems and they will not be ready until an indeterminable date.

Next event: Memorial Day Double Header at PPIR in Fountain. Since the coilovers will be out, Yarko will be racing the 1992 Passat B3 to maintain season points. We’ll see how that goes.
